Triple towing is not allowed. Passengers may ride in fifth wheel with audible or visual device with tow vehicle and safety glass and at least one exit can be opened from the outside and the inside. Passengers can not ride in travel trailer. Passenger may ride in pickup camper provided passenger can communicate with drive and exit can be opened from both interior and exterior, or safety glass in window required. Seat belts are required.

Towing travel trailers may not be allowed in snow areas. Contact the highway patrol before entering a snow area; chains may be required at any time. RVs equipped with ICC-approved LP tanks, not exceeding two 45-pound capacity tanks (or two permanently mounted containers with a maximum total capacity of 200 pounds) may cross the Viriginia/Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel provided that, in the opinion of the toll collector or police officer after inspection, the tanks are completely shut off and securely attached.

Vermont Road Laws

Washington Road Laws

Size Limitations: Height, 14'; Width, 8'6"; Trailer length, none stated; Motorhome length, 46'; Combined length, 75'. Triple towing is not allowed.

Required Equipment: Safety chain, fire extinguisher in RV, flares or reflective signs, brakes on trailers of 3,000 pounds, breakaway switch required on trailers over 3,000 pounds.

Passengers may ride in truck campers only. Overnight parking is permited in state rest areas not to exceed eight hours.

Wisconsin Road Laws

Size Limitations: Height, 13'6"; Width, 8'6"; Motorhome length, 40' (legislation pending to increase this); Trailer length, 48'; Combined length, 60' on selected highways, special permit. Triple towing is with special permit and not to exceed maximum combined length of 60 foot on certain highways.

Required Equipment: Safety chain, brakes on trailer with gross weight of 3,000 pounds.

Riding is permitted in fifth wheels trailers but there are some exceptions or restrictions. Riding is permited without restriction in pickup campers. Overnight parking in state rest areas is not allowed.

West Virginia Road Laws

Size Limitations: Height, 13'6"; Width, 8'6"; Trailer length, 40'; Motorhome length, 45'; Combined length, 65'. Triple towing is not allowed.

Required Equipment: Safety chain, breakaway switch, flares or reflective signs, wipers/lights on when conditions warrant, brakes required on trailers over 3,000 pounds gross weight or weight of trailer exceeds 40% of tow-vehicle weight. Wipers/lights on when conditions warrant.

Riding is permitted in fifth wheels and pickup campers. Overnight parking is not permitted in state rest areas.

Wyoming Road Laws

Size Limitations: Height, 14'; Width, 8'6"; Trailer length, 45'; Motorhome length, 60'; Combined length, 85'. Triple towing is allowed but not to exceed 85' combined length.

Required Equipment: Safety chain, must be able to stop in 40 feet at 20 mph.

Riding is permitted in pickup camper only. Overnight parking is "as posted" in state rest areas.
